South Africa is one of the most beautiful and diverse destinations in the world, and a large number of couples from overseas choose to get married here. I have photographed a few such weddings, mostly at Marataba Lodge (Hunter Hotels Group).
My two favorite weddings I have photographed are the weddings of Jenelle and Chris (from Australia) and Ludger and Monique (from Germany). Jenelle and Chris got married at Marataba Lodge in the presence of 25 of their closest family and friends. We had an amazing time with the couple. They are spontaneous, easy-going with a sense of adventure and fun to work with.
Jenelle was extremely relaxed in front of the camera and we clicked right from the start. By joking and mocking her I got a lot of fun filled and spontaneous photos. She also trusted me as an Artist and allowed me to guide her to pose for the glamour and beauty shots. We had a “trash the dress” session the following day and Chris and Jenelle got into the freezing water (middle of winter) for a couple of pictures.
Ludger and Monique were more reserved, but Monique and I also clicked right away. They did not always understand the South-African sense of humor, but gave me free range on style and angles in the photography. Monique is also a visual artist and enjoyed the black and white images and oblique angles. They enjoyed South-Africa so much that they have since moved from Germany and now reside in JHB.
